Our purpose
Beyond Lazy publishes practical guidance about artificial intelligence, automation, digital productivity and personal systems.
Our goal is to help readers reduce unnecessary work, make informed technology decisions and create systems that remain useful after the initial setup.
Editorial principles
1. Practical usefulness
Articles should solve a recognisable problem or help a reader make a meaningful decision.
We avoid publishing content merely because a topic is trending or may attract search traffic.
2. Clarity
Articles are written for ordinary users rather than specialists unless clearly stated otherwise.
We aim to explain technical concepts in straightforward language and define unavoidable jargon.
3. Accuracy
Before publication, we aim to:
- verify important factual claims
- check current product features and pricing
- test instructions where practical
- link to authoritative primary sources
- distinguish facts from opinion
- identify important limitations
Because technology changes quickly, readers should also check time-sensitive information directly with the provider.
4. First-hand experience
Where an article claims that a product or workflow has been tested, we aim to explain:
- what was tested
- the device or environment used
- whether access was free, paid or supplied
- how long it was used
- any significant limitations encountered
We will not imply first-hand experience where none exists.
Research-based articles will be identified as such.
5. Honest recommendations
A recommendation should reflect the author’s genuine conclusion.
Reviews and comparisons may consider:
- usefulness
- ease of setup
- ongoing maintenance
- price and overall value
- privacy and security considerations
- reliability
- compatibility
- accessibility
- customer support
- likely longevity
- who should and should not use the product
The highest-paying affiliate program does not automatically receive the strongest recommendation.
6. Affiliate relationships
Some articles contain affiliate links.
Affiliate relationships may influence which products are commercially available to link to, but they do not determine the editorial conclusion.
Where a suitable non-affiliate option is better, it may still be recommended.

7. Sponsored content
Sponsored content will be clearly labelled.
Sponsors may provide factual corrections relating to their own product but will not control Beyond Lazy’s final opinion or suppress legitimate criticism.
Payment does not guarantee a favourable review.
8. Free products and review access
Free products, trials, subscriptions, event access or other benefits relevant to an article will be disclosed.
Where practical, products will be assessed using the same standards regardless of whether access was purchased, supplied or provided through a free plan.
9. Use of artificial intelligence
Beyond Lazy covers AI and may also use AI tools in its publishing process.
AI may assist with:
- brainstorming
- outlining
- summarising source material
- transcription
- editing
- formatting
- checking clarity
- creating administrative workflows
AI-generated output is not treated as inherently accurate.
Substantive articles are reviewed and edited by a human before publication. Important claims should be checked against reliable sources or first-hand testing.
We do not knowingly use AI to fabricate:
- testing experience
- quotations
- sources
- product results
- author credentials
- reader testimonials
10. Privacy and responsible testing
We aim to avoid publishing:
- personal information without permission
- confidential workplace information
- credentials, account identifiers or security details
- screenshots exposing sensitive data
- instructions that create an unreasonable security or privacy risk
Examples and screenshots may be edited, anonymised or recreated to protect privacy.
11. Corrections
Factual errors will be corrected when identified.
Material corrections may include an editor’s note explaining:
- what was wrong
- what was changed
- when the correction was made
Minor spelling, grammar, formatting or clarity changes may be made without a correction notice.

12. Updates
Articles may display:
- original publication date
- most recent update date
- testing date
- software version or plan tested
An updated date should reflect a meaningful review or revision rather than a superficial change made solely to make an article appear current.
13. Product removal and changed recommendations
A product may be removed or its recommendation changed when:
- features or pricing change
- the product becomes unavailable
- significant privacy or security concerns emerge
- support or reliability deteriorates
- a better option becomes available
- further testing changes our conclusion
Past commercial relationships do not prevent a recommendation from being revised.
14. Sources
We prioritise sources appropriate to the claim, including:
- official product documentation
- government and regulatory guidance
- original research
- direct testing
- reputable independent reporting
Third-party summaries may be used for context but should not replace a better primary source where one is reasonably available.
15. Conflicts of interest
Relevant personal, professional or financial interests that could reasonably affect a reader’s assessment of an article will be disclosed.
Beyond Lazy is an independent publication. The views expressed do not represent the author’s employer, clients or other organisations unless explicitly stated.
16. Reader feedback
Constructive feedback, corrections and differing experiences are welcome.
Reader feedback may inform future updates, but a request from a company, affiliate partner or reader does not guarantee that an editorial conclusion will be changed.
